Make Chinese Votes Count Event - 8th March 2006
Figures available suggest that there are about 300,000 Chinese people living in the UK, forming one of the biggest minority ethnic groups in the country. However, because of the low level of participation in political activities, the Chinese community is often “seen but not heard”. In a bid to raise this concern among the Chinese population, the Ming Ai (London) Institute and London Chinese Community Network are jointly running a project entitled “Make Chinese Votes Count”. Starting from January 2006 for 12 months, this project aims to inform Chinese residents of the importance of local and national elections and encourage them to register with the local electoral offices in order to take part in elections and hence “make their votes count”.
This event is the first of a series of activities planned for the programme and the places are limited. If you are interested please contact Rachel Yang on 020 8361 7161 to reserve a place.
