Network Q & A
Q: What is it?
A: The London Chinese Community Network (the Network) was launched in 2001 and is a second-tier* organisation which works with London Chinese voluntary and Community organisations.
Q: What are its aims and
objectives?
A: It aims to form a Network of Chinese Community Organisations
(CCOs) in London in order to promote the interests of
the Chinese Community in London through enabling mutual
support, advocacy at policy level and organisational
capacity building.
Q: How is the Project managed?
A: A Board of Trustees comprising representatives of
CCOs has been formed to oversee the work of the Network.
Q: How is the work carried
out?
A: The Network needs to recruit members.
The staff will then visit its members to find out what
are their service and funding needs. This will be done
in a professional and confidential manner. The Network
will then take on an advocacy role with policy makers
and funders. Individual members can get support in its
service and funding development through the Project.
The Network will also produce monthly funding bulletins,
quarterly newsletters and organise workshops and conferences.
Q: What else could a Network
member get?
A: On becoming a member:
- You will have the right to nominate and vote for
the Board of Trustee members as well as all the rights
that Network group members are entitled to according
to the Network's terms of reference.
- You will be given a certificate of Network membership.
Members will be provided with a Good Practice Code.
This can instil confidence to funders and other partners.
- Regular publications by email to inform you of policy updates and funding information, etc.
- You will be invited to attend the "Meet The
Funders Conference" and other talks, seminars
and workshops organised by the Network and tailor
made for your service and funding needs.
Q: Who can join the Network?
A: If you are a CCO and/or your project is set up to
serve the Chinese Community in London, then this is
an invitation for you to join the Network. If you are
interested, please give us a call and we will schedule
a visit with you and discuss in detail how the Network
may serve you. Membership is free!
